Liposuction and liposculpture are performing utilizing
the tumescent technique whereby large volumes of
dilute anesthetic fluid are delivered to the treatment areas
causing them to be tumescent, or swollen and firm.
This assists in fat removal and provides local anesthetic
control of the area treated.
Liposuction is the surgical removal of fat deposits with the use of a cannula, or hollowed steel rod and suction. Performed under general anesthesia, iv sedation or local anesthetic, it is an outpatient procedure which can be combined with other cosmetic surgeries.
